Being an avid Mountain Biker, I was excited to hear about the changes going on at the mountain bike track, at the Australian Botanical Garden Mount Annan.
I must admit, once I saw some of the changes in progress for myself, I was even more keen to see them finished as soon as possible.
Extensions are being made to the advanced (or black) trail to add on a couple of extra Kms (unsure of exact distance), with a pretty impressive and steep banked corner (see pics below). This is located at the very far end of the track where you would normally start the downhill on the dirt road to start coming back towards the blue/green tracks. Regular riders will have seen the works as they are pretty hard to miss when riding the advanced track.
Check out the pics below:
These pictures were taken late on the 26th November. As the track was closed on the weekend of the 29-30 Nov for the 24 hour Enduro, and has still be closed since because of the amount of rain over the last few days, I am unsure if any of the new sections were finished in time for the Enduro last weekend.
Look out for another post related to the Mountain Bike Track in the coming weeks!
The NBN seems like it’s been around for a lifetime, but hasn’t been rolled out in the Mount Annan area yet – well sort of but more on that in a minute. NBN Co made an rollout announcement today on the construction progress that is due to be completed by June 2016.
Today NBN Co outlined plans to add 1.9 million premises to the new multi-technology mix (MTM) NBN by June 2016. This announcement today is an important milestone, as it is the first that contains the Coalition’s MTM method.
What is MTM? It’s basically using new technology (fibre) combined with old existing technology (copper) to build the infrastructure to deliver the NBN. From a technical point of view, fibre for the NBN will be connected to the node (FTTN) rather than to each individual premise in the majority of cases (commonly known as Fibre To The Premises – FTTP).
What it means is slower speeds as it will still use some copper to get to your place, but the rollout should be quicker as not as much infrastructure needs to be installed.
FTTP will still exist in a NBN world to those who already have it or were due to get it in previous plans, but it would appear that in Mount Annan we will be getting MTM.
When is it coming to Mount Annan? Well not soon according to the list that was released. Check out the list of locations (with a searchable map) here.
Interestingly, looking at the rollout map on the NBN Co map, there is some NBN already in Mount Annan in very small area (see pic below).

If you live in this shaded area, I’d be interested to hear if you have got NBN and what you think of it. Leave a comment below.
Current projections are that all homes will have access to the NBN by 2020.
What are your thoughts? Are you happy with what you have now which is probably ADSL2+. Leave a comment below.
Often I see garage sales advertised out on the streets with cardboard signs and the like.
We thought it would be better for all to see them on a local website like ours.
It would benefit the seller in reaching a greater audience, and the buyer who likes to plan on attending one or more garage sales over a weekend.
So now, this site has a place for locals only (and that’s another good reason) to list their garage sales before the weekend that they are due.
The listings are welcome to all residents of Mount Annan, Narellan Vale, Narellan Gardens and Currans Hill (at this stage).
There is no charge whatsoever for listing your garage sale.
Fill in the online form here:

Finally, tell your friends about it and get them to check out the page too!
St Clare Narellan Vale’s fair is on today – and the weather is just perfect for this annual event.
On from 9pm to 3pm, the fair has a bit of everything and fun for the whole family – from rides to food and plenty of family oriented activities.
Having been down already this morning, it looks as if it will be packed all day. If you live local, it is probably best to walk down as the school car park is already full, and there a lot of cars lining Holdsworth Drive in Narellan Vale.
The fair is on from 9am to 3pm, so get down and support one of great local schools in the area.
Experience a winter wonderland in Narellan this Saturday for the annual Christmas in Narellan Event.
For the first time, there will be snow to add that extra bit of magic to the winter wonderland.
The Christmas in Narellan evening will feature a laser light show, a huge Christmas tree with baubles designed by children from local preschools. Food and drink will be available, along with entertainment and lots of giveaways.
Get there early as there will be 1000 free showbags and giveaways for people who arrive at the beginning of the night. Also, there will be raffle for a drum kit, two guitars and the opportunity to meet the headline band, The Collective (who have been seen on the X factor).
The event is family focussed, and I’m sure kids will enjoy all the displays and activities including the carol singing this weekend.
When: Saturday, November 8 from 6pm to 9pm
Where: Narellan Town Centre outdoor carpark
