Christmas light displays in Mount Annan .
(Last updated )
Each year probably the best street overall to view Christmas Lights is The Rapids which has won awards in previous years :
But that is not to say that there aren’t any other good displays out there.
Be mindful of residents and don’t block driveways or park on front lawns. Generally light displays finish up around 10.30pm each night. I notice that the council have erected a number of no stopping signs in order to improve traffic flow, and you will see a ‘no coaches’ sign there also (great idea!)
Must see streets (in no particular order) are as follows:
- Moyengully Ave
- Swansona Ave (the best but crowded)
- The Ponds
- The Rapids
- Chain O Ponds Circuit
- Deep Pool Way
There is also soem great displays around Spring Farm.
If you have a great display picture that you wish to be featured on this page, please leave a comment below.
Season’s greeting and enjoy the Mount Annan Christmas lights!
Can I please let people know that no. 14 deep pool pde have fenced off the nature strip in front of their house and as a result you and your children must walk either on the slippery concrete angled gutter OR on the road in front of cars- very dangerous! Not to mention highly disappointing. I witnessed several mothers and fathers with prams have to move onto the road and face oncoming traffic. Not only this but tonight 05/12/14 my 4 year old niece was slipping over trying to balance on the gutter due to the fence and despite me holding her other hand she put her hand on the makeshift fence to balance herself, only to have the older female resident rudely abuse her! The resident obviously out to watch people struggle to navigate the passive aggressive makeshift fence! This is not in the spirit of the season. Will be calling council first thing Monday about the fence as it is beyond their letterbox.
Thank You for your exagerated comments. May i say you had 4 metres wide of grass lawn on the left hand side of the street to walk your children on but you decided otherwise.
That is your problem.
You seem to have a lot of spare time to write comments about Mount Annan, maybe you should volunteer some of it to help clean our lawns/streets of rubbish left by people christmas sightseeing each night during the christmas season.
The purpose of having christmas lights in our street is not to entertain Sarah who exagerated and are unable to control/supervise children within their care.
We the residents of Deep Pool Way should not have to be babysitters for visitors children who with no supervision and have a tendancy to damage christmas lights.
Some residents have not displayed christmas lights this year due to high costs of replacement from damage from the previous year.
People are welcome to visit the street, but please respect other people’s property {see comment 7/12/14} Rubbish such as glass bottles, cans, coffee cups & food wrappers should not be left on our roads, driveways & gardens for us locals to pick & clean up.
Damage is also happening to drain pipes by visitors parking heavy vehicles on sections of lawns.
Maybe we should request permission from council to block access to non resident vehicles with the exemption of buses to alleviate traffic congestion during the christmas period.
Also maybe Sarah should spend half the time that we do putting up christmas lights then maybe she would have some appreciation of the effort involved.
Merry Christmas!!!!!
And thank you for your reply, Fred!
Thanks for the info Sarah.
I took my disability clients to look at the lights on Friday night at the cascades. Where my client was walking past one of the houses that has a very nice display and because he was happy and excited he was laughing and having a good old time when the lady started yelling at him saying what the hell r u laughing at. Because he didn’t answer her she yells out you bloody retard. I was so upset and confronted her telling her that it was not nice and he has a disability and he can’t help it her reaction is he shouldn’t laugh and if he can’t help it he shouldn’t be out here. Very poor Christmas spirit on the upside everyone else was very happy and welcoming to my guys. It’s great to see soooo much joy bought into their already difficult life’s thanks to the hands of others. It’s a shame there r the odd few that wreck it
Merry Christmas everyone
I absolutely love the lights and the people who spend months preparing them I’m just wanting to know when we can start coming to see them is there a start date please
I think this weekend is a good start. Have noticed many people putting up lights during the week, and then more today
Dear all,
I’m not sure if this is the right place but maybe I can get some directions.
I have a Slurpee trailers which you utilise for major events. What is the process to apply for space for the Carols.
Thanks
Not sure, Moses. I would go down and talk to some of the house owners in the smaller streets. Covid and social distancing makes it harder this year.
Hi, I just want to ask which date the Christmas lights will finish up? My family and I are planning to come on the 24th or 25th. Will that be too late then? Cheers
Christopher, 24th will be perfect. Normally crowdy but the spirit and atmosphere is great.
Hi there,
Similar question to Christopher, was wondering when the Christmas lights will be finishing up? Due to personal commitments my partner and I won’t be able to swing by until the 26th. Will the lights still be on?
Cheers
People start taking them down after 25/12. Its hard to know but I’m sure some will still be up.
Where is the best place to park and walk around to see the most with two kiddies? thanks
Probably Waterworth Drive or Holdsworth Drive are your best bet, and then walk.
I am a nursing home mini bus driver and every year I drive our residents through the streets of M. Annan.
Last year I noticed a sign down in the Cascades that said No coaches allowed, can you please explain what it means.
Thank you.
It’s a sign to ‘discourage’ the big coaches to drive through the cascades area as the streets as quite tight and there is a lot of foot traffic. I have found it quite difficult to even drive through there in my car to get down to Coles or Woolies.
Thanks for replying.
I will be doing my M Annan tour again this year and I fully understand the difficulty and frustration of residents who cannot access their driveways due to the people who park there.
I promise that I will not stop the bus but I will only pass in front of the houses to let my passengers admire the beauty of the Christmas lights display.
Thanks again and Merry Christmas to everyone.
