The whole of the Sydney basin was sweltering in heat today, with extreme temperatures being recorded. It’s certainly been a hot start to the year – with another 40+ degree day today.
Locally, the temperature recorded at Camden Airport was a staggering 45.4 degrees at 3pm, which surpassed the January 2003 record of 45.0 degrees. According to weatherzone.com.au, the maximum was actually 46.0 degrees today.
Meanwhile, Sydney had its hottest day on record also, with the mercury hitting 45.8 degrees in the city at 2.55pm. The previous high of 45.3 degrees was recorded in January 1939 at Observatory Hill.
