This weekend at the local botanical gardens will be a busy one for mountain bike enthusiasts.
Round 4 of the 2013 Shimano MTB GP series will be held there on Saturday 13 July.
The race series is essentially geared towards either solo riders or a 2 person relay race format, and is divided up into the two following categories:
- FAST GP – A 4 Hour endurance race if you want to spend only half the day on your bike.
- FURIOUS GP – The 7 Hour race for all the really serious cycling endurance enthusiasts.
Entry will be allowed through the old gates on Mount Annan Drive from 7am to 10am, with spectators and supporters entering via the main gate on Narellan Road from 10am. Follow the signs once inside the gardens and drive carefully. The gardens will be packed to the rafters I’m sure.
For more detailed info on cycling at the gardens, check out the Royal Botanic Gardens website.
In case the track is closed this weekend due to conditions caused by the recent wet weather (as it was on the weekend just gone by), there is a secondary date of 20th July set aside.
I won’t be riding, but if I find time to get down there I’ll certainly take some photos. I’m sure the atmosphere will be great with such a large amount of riders (and fit ones at that) due.
