A Wet August

August of this year, not only being the last winter month, also brought some long overdue and welcome rain to the Mount Annan and Sydney basinĀ area.

The first half of the month was moisture free, but on the 18th August overĀ 1/10 of the year’s rainfall to date fell (78mm). This ended up being around half the total month’s rainfall in August

It’s amazing how much difference a bit of rain makes to the area. As you can see from the two pics below, we needed the rain and now grass is starting to turn green in time for spring.

The first was taken two days before the rain, and the second one was taken earlier this week. This is from the botanical gardens looking west over Mount Annan.
