Some good news for the youth in the area, with facilities to be constructed at Birriwa Reserve.
Just over a week ago, Camden council approved funding allocation for a multi-purpose youth space at the popular reserve.
Birriwa Reserve was identified by Camden Council back in 2014 as the location for this facility due to its proximity to the target population, visibility by traffic and pedestrians, and of course the close location to other recreational facilities and shopping/food outlets, such as Mount Annan marketplace and Mount Annan Central..
The new youth space will provide a unique recreational facility aimed primarily the 12 – 17 year old age bracket. The funding will allow for a greater recreational experience for the teenage population in the area.
The facility will include passive open space, a covered BBQ area, an amenities block, landscaping, upgrade to the multi-purpose sports courts and (hopefully) additional parking – parking is always a pain when sporting events are on there.
Council have also noted that the underpass across Waterworth Drive will be refurbished also which is great news. I think that is well overdue.
When is it going to happen? Well, construction is supposed to start in the 2015-2016. I’m not aware in what month however.
