The next big Mountain Bike (MTB) event to be held at the The Australian Botanic Garden this weekend at Mount Annan.
Starting on Saturday (November 29) at midday, the annual JetBlack 24hr enduro event organised by Rocky Trail entertainment will be as popular as ever I’m sure.
I definitely won’t be racing (this year) , but will go down to cheer on the riders and get some photos.
There are a lot of different categories to pick from, as well as a special 6+6 format for the riders who don’t want to ride 24 hours non stop.
The 6+6 works by participants riding from midday to 6pm on the first day, and then from 6am to midday on the second day, which gives you ample time to rest up, and then finish with the rest of the pack at midday.
Camping will be allowed on Friday night at the gardens with a cost of $10 per car.
The gates to The Australian Botanic Garden Mt Annan shut on Friday at 8pm. They will reopen on Saturday at 7am.
On Saturday night the gates shut at 8pm and reopen again Sunday morning at 5am until 6.30am for the 6+6 hour riders.
During the night when the gates are closed you won’t be able to leave the gardens. Please see event staff in case of emergency if exit is required.
Australian Botanic Garden gate opening times:
Friday: 10am – 8pm (from 5pm please use the old gate at Mt Annan drive)
Saturday: 7am – 8pm (from 5pm please use the old gate at Mt Annan drive)
Sunday: 5am – 6.30am and 10am – 8pm
For more information and entry forms, check out Rocky Trail’s website!
There is also some new work going on in the advanced section of the track including this awesome banked corner. Not sure if it will be ready for the 24 hour this weekend, but if you are a regular rider there I’m sure you are looking forward to the changes to the track being completed!
